Amazon is revamping its Fire tablets

On Wednesday, Amazon announced new versions of its Fire tablet. The Fire 7 is priced at $50, and the Fire HD 8 is $10 less than its previous model at $80. The new features of the 7 include a sleek, lighter designer, a more vibrant display, and an hour more of battery life. The Fire 8 is essentially the same as before but offers a sharper 8-inch, 1280 x 800 display, 1.5 GB of RAM, and up to 12 hours of battery life. A Kids Edition Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 will also become available and offer a year-long subscription to Amazon's FreeTime unlimited content service. The company is now fourth in overall market share due to the tablets' affordability and sales occurring when the market for traditional tablets slowed.
